Breaking Out Of Your Comfort Zone
I used to have a comfort zone where I knew I couldn’t fail,
The same four walls and busywork
were really more like jail,
I longed so much to do the things I’d never done before,
But I stayed inside my comfort zone and
paced the same old floor.
I said it didn’t matter that I wasn’t doing much.
I said I didn’t care for things like diamonds, cars and such,
I claimed to be busy with the things inside the zone,
But deep inside I kept longing for some victory of my own.
I couldn’t let my life go by just watching others win!
I held my breath and stepped outside
to let the change begin.
I took a step and with new strength I’d never felt before,
I kissed my comfort zone goodbye and
Closed and locked the door.
If you are in a comfort zone afraid to venture out,
Remember that all winners at one time were filled with
similar doubt. A step or two and words of praise can make your dreams come true. Greet your future with a smile-
Success is there for you.

Article - Personal Success - The ABCDE Method for Setting Priorities
By: Brian Tracy
Efficiency is doing things right. Effectiveness is doing the right things. Your
ability to plan and organize your work, in advance, so you are always working on
your highest value tasks determines your success as much as any other factor.
The ABCDE Method for Priorities
The process of setting short-term priorities begins with a pad of paper and a
pen. Whenever you feel overwhelmed by too many things to do and too little time
in which to do them, sit down, take a deep breath, and list all those tasks you
need to accomplish. Although there is never enough time to do everything, there
is always enough time to do the most important things, and to stay with them
until they are done right.
Setting Better Priorities
The best method for setting priorities on your list, once you have determined
your major goals or objectives, is the A-B-C-D-E method. You place one of those
letters in the margin before each of the tasks on your list before you begin.
"A" stands for "very important;" something you must do. There can be serious
negative consequences if you don't do it.
"B" stands for "important;" something you should do. This is not as important as
your 'A' tasks. There are only minor negative consequences if it is not
completed.
"C" stands for things that are "nice to do;" but which are not as important as
'A' or 'B,' tasks. There are no negative consequences for not completing it.
"D" stands for "delegate." You can assign this task to someone else who can do
the job instead of you.
"E" stands for "eliminate, whenever possible." You should eliminate every single
activity you possibly can, to free up your time.
When you use the A-B-C-D-E method, you can very easily sort out what is
important and unimportant. This then will focus your time and attention on those
items on your list that are most essential for you to do.
Just Say No
Once you can clearly determine the one or two things that you should be doing,
above all others, just say no to all diversions and distractions and focus
single-mindedly on accomplishing those priorities.
Much stress that you experience in your work life comes from working on
low-priority tasks. The amazing discovery is that as soon as you start working
on your highest-value activity, all your stress disappears. You feel a
continuous stream of energy and enthusiasm. As you work toward the completion of
something that is really important, you feel an increased sense of personal
value and inner satisfaction. You experience a sensation of self-mastery and
self-control. You feel calm, confident and capable.
Action Exercises
Here are three ideas that you can use, every day, to help you set priorities and
to keep you working at your best:
First, take the time to be clear about your goals and objectives so that the
priorities you set are moving you in the direction of something that is of real
value to you.
Second, remember that what counts is not the amount of time that you put in
overall; rather, it's the amount of time that you spend working on high-priority
tasks.
Third, understand that the most important factor in setting priorities is your
ability to make wise choices. You are always free to choose to engage in one
activity or another. My best selling book
Eat That Frog 2nd edition explains the ABCDE method as well as suggests the
best ways to implement these ideas.
Resolve today to set clear priorities in every area of your life, and always
choose the activities that will assure you the greatest health, happiness and
prosperity in the long term.
Article - Management Success - Becoming A Master of Persuasion
By: Brian Tracy
Persuasion power can help you get more of the things you want faster than
anything else you do. It can mean the difference between success and failure. It
can guarantee your progress and enable you to use all of your other skills and
abilities at the very highest level. Your persuasion power will earn you the
support of others.
You Have Two Choices
There are always two choices: either you can persuade others to help you or you
can be persuaded to help them. It is one or the other. Most people are not aware
that every human interaction involves a complex process of persuasion and
influence. And being unaware, they are usually the ones being persuaded to help
others rather than the ones who are doing the persuading.
The Key to Persuasion
The key to persuasion is motivation. Every human action is motivated by
something. Your job is to find out what motivates other people and then to
provide that motivation.
People have two major motivations: the desire for gain and the fear of loss. The
desire for gain motivates people to want more of the things they value in life.
They want more money, more success, more health, more influence, more respect,
more love and more happiness.
Human wants are limited only by individual imagination. No matter how much a
person has, he or she still wants more and more. When you can show a person how
he or she can get more of the things he or she wants by helping you achieve your
goals, you can motivate them to act in your behalf.
A Presidential Insight
President Eisenhower once said that, "Persuasion is the art of getting people to
do what you want them to do, and to like it." You need always to be thinking
about how you can get people to want to do the things that you need them to do
to attain your objectives.
The Fear of Loss
People are also motivated to act by the fear of loss. This fear, in all its
various forms, is often stronger than the desire for gain. People fear financial
loss, loss of health, anger or disapproval of others, loss of the love of
someone and the loss of anything they have worked hard to accomplish. They fear
change, risk and uncertainty because these threaten them with potential losses.
Use Dual Motivation
Whenever you can show a person that, by doing what you want them to do, they can
avoid a loss of some kind, you can influence them to take a particular action.
The very best appeals are those where you offer an opportunity to gain and an
opportunity to avoid loss at the same time.
Action Exercises
Here are two things you can do immediately to put these ideas into action.
First, before trying to convince someone of something, take a little time to
think and ask questions to find out what it is he really wants. Then, motivate
him to act by showing him how you can help him get it. My teleseminar CD
Communicate With Power provides techniques to achieving your desired end
result, every time!
Remember, people are motivated for their reasons, not yours.

Making Course Corrections
By: Brian Tracy
A year ago, when I heard about the book “The Secret,” I was skeptical. Having
studied success and successful people for more than thirty years, I knew that
there was no such thing as a single secret that could enable people to achieve
all their goals.
When I finally relented and watched “The Secret” movie and then read the book, I
found to my surprise that fully half of the material comes from the first
session of my “Psychology of Achievement” audio program, produced in 1983 by
Nightingale-Conant Corporation.
In that program, and in my book Maximum Achievement, I explain the seven basic
laws that determine individual destiny, including the Law of Attraction. What I
said at that time, and what I say today, is that the Law of Attraction is a
powerful, positive and important law, but it is not sufficient in itself to
guarantee success.
What is misleading about this book, and many other success theories is that they
suggest that all you have to do is visualize and have happy thoughts and
everything you want will appear in your life. Anyone who has lived for 15
minutes in the real world knows that this is simply not true.
As a response to The Secret, I wrote my own explanation in a book entitled
Flight Plan – The Real Secret of Success. In this book, I explain that life
is like an airplane journey. From the time you take off, you will be off course
99% of the time. All airplanes are off course 99% of the time. The purpose and
role of the pilot and the avionics is to continually bring the plane back on
course so that it arrives on schedule at its destination.
In life, you are the pilot of your own craft. To reach your destination of
health, happiness, prosperity and a good life, you must do as a pilot does. You
must first of all determine your destination. This requires clear, specific
goals, written down, with plans to accomplish them for each day.
Second, you must take off toward your destination with no guarantee of success.
You must be willing to move out of your comfort zone and take risks continually,
even though you know that most of them will not succeed, at least at the
beginning.
The third part, and the real secret of success is that you must be prepared to
make continual course corrections. Just as an aircraft faces headwinds,
downdrafts, storm fronts, wind shear, lightning and unexpected turbulence, you
will experience the same in the pursuit of any worthwhile goal.
The key to success is for you to keep your mind fixed clearly on the goal, but
be flexible about the way of achievement. Be open to new inputs and ideas. Learn
from every experience. Look for the good in every setback or difficulty.
Most of all, you must resolve in advance that you will never give up. Your
ability to persist in the face of all adversity in the direction of your goal is
what will ultimately guarantee your success.
You make your own luck through your own hard work and determination. Decide upon
your destination, take off, and be open to the necessity to making continual
course corrections until you reach your destination.
